AEON, Malaysian Aeon Foundation and 8TV get together to share the joy of Chinese New Year celebration with people of different abilities and senior citizens.
Kuala Lumpur, 31 January 2022 – AEON CO. (M) BHD. (AEON) and its corporate responsibility arm, Malaysian AEON Foundation get together with 8TV by launching an online charity sale aims at sharing the joy of Chinese New Year celebration with people of different abilities and senior citizens. AEON’s online charity sale which was hosted by a celebrity deejay, KK Wong and supported by 8TV for publicity and promotions, successfully raised RM25,778.00. The proceeds from the charity sale are matched ringgit for ringgit for the first RM20,000.00 by Malaysian AEON Foundation which brings the total funds raised to RM45,778.00. The funds raised are used to purchase essential items required by two homes, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim & OKU Mesra in Petaling Jaya, Selangor and Rumah Orang Tua Seri Kembangan in Seri Kembangan, Selangor
On 17 January 2022, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim & OKU Mesra in Petaling Jaya, Selangor received the first batch of contributions consisting daily and nursing essentials as well as home furniture. The 45 occupants of the home were ecstatic with the singing dan dancing performances by 8TV’s celebrities namely Ching Yee, Ash Lu, Jan Chin, Chun Pin, Chin Chuan, Ghim Chin, Xiang Yee, Alice Yeak and Charlotte Seow. They were also presented with ang pow packets.
Mr. Tsutomu Motomura, Deputy Managing Director of AEON who presented the contributions said, “The grit and sheer determination from 8TV Team, AEON Warriors and AEON Partners, with the support from Malaysian AEON Foundation and our customers, have made this project a success. We are very thankful towards AEON’s customers who fully supported this charity project with their online purchases. This is part of social sustainability undertaken for the love of our community, in ensuring no one is left behind in celebrating the Chinese New Year.”

On 27 January 2022, Rumah Orang Tua Seri Kembangan in Seri Kembangan, Selangor also received the first batch of the contributions consisting daily and nursing essentials. The 20 occupants of the home were delighted to be served with special porridges prepared by AEON Delicatessen and upon receiving their ang pow packets.
According to Datin Noryahwati Mohd Noh, President of Malaysian AEON Foundation who presented the contributions, “We are grateful to be able to share the happiness of Chinese New Year celebration with our friends at Rumah Orang Tua Seri Kembangan. We hope that the result of this collaborative social initiative that we are sharing will help to defray some of the home’s operational costs.”
“Malaysian AEON Foundation was established in 2004 and has contributed more than RM15 million in the implementation of various community programmes. The foundation strives to assist those who are in need regardless of race and religion.” added Datin Noryahwati.
The initiative undertaken is in line with AEON’s effort in championing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 16: Peace and Justice, Strong Institution) that focuses towards promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
