Bandar Utama, 26 August 2016 – Kindness took centre stage at the Malaysian AEON Foundation’s recent 12th Charity Gala Dinner 2016 as a total of RM1.7 million in donations was raised.

Themed “Livin’ the Dream”, the annual event saw 1,300 AEON business partners gathering at One World Hotel with a common goal in mind—to put a smile on the faces of the less fortunate and to make their dreams come true. The funds would go towards improving the lives of the needy, especially children who are deprived of education as well as those who are financially incapable of seeking medical treatment.

Also lending his presence to the prestigious occasion was the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism, YBhg Dato’ Basaruddin bin Sadali. He was joined by several Malaysian AEON Foundation representatives to hand a donation of up to RM20,000 each to three children’s homes—Yayasan Sunbeams Home, Rumah Kanak-Kanak Tengku Budriah and Persatuan Kebajikan Shamah—that were present that evening.

Some of the main donors of the night—each contributing RM50,000 to the cause—were AEON Co (M) Bhd, AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad and Visa International (Asia Pacific) LLC. And RM20,000 from 20 companies that night.

More than just a philanthropic initiative, the Charity Gala Dinner also treated its attendees to a special dance performance by member of welfare association Dual Blessing Sdn Bhd, and a laugh-out-loud session with popular Singaporean comedian, Gurmit Singh.
